GO HUSKIES!

Today was a good day.  It didn't start out as well as I had hoped, I woke up with what I like to call a neck strain, and a frontal lobe pain in da head.  The neck strain to me is just overtightened neck muscles from stress, not getting enough sleep, all of the above.  The pain in da head could have been a side effect of the neck strain.  Happens all the time.  BLAH.  Not good for driving 45 minutes to an event I was not all that thrilled to have to be at.

Drove my arse to the CSUS Aquatic Center, home of the PAC 10 Rowing Championships.  May I just say, that shit looked hard!  But, it also looked fun.  I am a wimp and probably couldn't last the 2000 meters it is that they row, at a very fast pace.  At any rate, the neck strain and pain subsided in the 100 degree heat and I had a fantastic time.  I always knew that the Rowing Team from Udub was excellent and has a dominant program, but I had to see it for myself.

The amazing feat was the Men's Varsity 8.  They were seated in the first lane, but out of the "gate" they were a few seats behind Cal (more of a rowing rival than the cougs...).  At any rate, they were neck and neck, but they hit right in front of the Washington support squad who was screaming "GO HUSKIES!!!!!!" and with less than 25 meters, gave enough horse power to surge ahead and take the championship.  Let's just say, the men cleaned house.  The women are re-building, and did quite well.  I met some cool people, learned some interesting things, gained an appreciation for a very cool sport, and started my base tan for the year.

Seeing these athletes enjoy their sport so much made me want to hop on the cycle.  Don't ask me why, just did.  So I stopped at the shop to buy a new pump.  Cannot find mine in the storage unit.  I could have splurged on a few items but stuck with my nice new pump and some info on the women's cycling club.  Grabbed some Subway for dinner and tomorrow's lunch, headed home.

When I got home, I chowed on the six inch, threw on my cycling clothes and had at it with the tires and aforementioned pump.  It is still blazing hot outside, but now I cannot find my damm water bottle.  It is one of those situations that you take it out of its normal place because you do not want the dang thing to get ruined.  Searched everywhere and with no avail, I will have to make a purchase again tomorrow.

Now after a second season episode of House, I am back to the study wheel.  My friend from school wants to go diving in Monterey over the holiday weekend.  I am almost tempted to do it because it is a holiday weekend....which means a day to play, a day to study.  :)  Have not made my decision just yet, may have to do it.
